Artefacts of Empire, LLC reserves the copyright and related rights it owns in eligible original text, photographs, illustrations, recordings, software and the original selection or arrangement of material. The scope of each right depends on the work and applicable law. A general notice does not establish ownership of every item displayed on this website.
Except where an applicable legal exception or an express licence permits the use, obtain the relevant rights holder’s permission before reproducing, adapting, distributing, selling or republishing protected material. Giving credit does not, by itself, replace permission.
Research, education and public-domain material
Nothing in this notice limits lawful quotation, criticism, review, research, teaching, accessibility uses or other statutory exceptions where their conditions are met. Those conditions vary by jurisdiction.
We do not claim exclusive copyright in historical facts, ideas, ancient objects themselves, or material that is in the public domain. Copyright in a photograph, commentary, database structure or other original contribution must be considered separately. Public-domain and openly licensed material retains its stated status.
International protection
We reserve our rights wherever applicable law recognises them. The Berne Convention provides an international framework for national treatment and automatic protection of qualifying works. It does not create one uniform worldwide copyright statute. Eligibility, duration, exceptions, remedies and enforcement requirements depend on the relevant jurisdiction.
Our notice does not extend the duration of copyright, remove a legal exception, or create protection for material that does not qualify.
In the European Union, protection is governed by relevant member-state law alongside the EU copyright framework, including Directive 2001/29/EC. References to these laws do not assert that every law applies to every visitor or use.
Third-party works and image credits
Material supplied by museums, libraries, photographers, researchers and other contributors remains subject to the relevant ownership, attribution and licence terms. Check any item-specific credit before reuse. Our general copyright notice does not replace an open licence or override a third party’s rights.
The three research-themed illustrations on this About page are AI-generated editorial artwork. They depict concepts, not documented company premises, equipment or historical specimens. Any copyright claim is limited to rights that exist under applicable law.
For permission to use company-owned material, contact president@artefactsoe.com. Include the page or item, the proposed use, publication format, intended audience and whether the use is commercial. We can grant permission only for rights we control.
If you believe material on this website infringes your rights or carries an incorrect credit, send the exact page address, a description of the material, the basis of your claim and your contact details to the same address so the matter can be reviewed.
